Small Groups is my response to both ‘current’ and ‘what I would like to see’. Involvement in a Small Group has been an awesome experience. I would like other folks to participate – to experience the associated blessings themselves. I see our passion and joy growing. Let’s keep the fire stoked!
Definitely the people! From the first day I visited I felt like I was part of a huge family. People who care about each other, are glad to see you each week, and are really there for each other.
Feeling of family is most important. We need to work on that aspect so that the entire congregation feels a part of our OPC family.
Music is also very important, it should be varied to suit everyone’s tastes/experiences.
In November 2008 I became involved in a small group for the first time. In the beginning I was a reluctant participant. However, I shortly became convinced of the wonderful experience small groups provide to gain not only a better understanding of the bible but also an amazing opportunity for meaningful fellowship with other members of the group.
I have come to believe that small groups represent a powerful tool for our spiritual growth. Our spending more time and energy at OPC in developing a stronger small group program would “light my fire”.
I’m fired up about the ways people are getting in touch with their spiritual gifts, building community with one another, and growing in Christ; particularly through small groups and mission. It is so inspiring to see the many wonderful ways God is working in the lives of our folks at OPC!
I love the passion and commitment of the leaders of the Igniting Campaign. The importance of taking advantage of such a generous offer to pay off OPC accrued debt cannot be overstated. The enthusiasm of the leaders in this campaign is catching!
The willingness of the Session and Pastor to look problems in the face is encouaging to me. :0)
I like a good mix of traditional hymns and new songs…last Sunday was great. Also, it’s encouraging to hear from members of experiences in their spiritual journey. My prayer is that we would gain more young families in our church family.
I definitely felt that the people are the key in this church once we all got to know each other. As music is one of my passions, I feel we have been blessed with Kathryn. Once again I have seen this church get behind a project(igniting)and see how the people respond to the needs in this church. WOW!
I was “Ignited” right out of my seat during last week’s service. Two visiting gentlemen, sitting in front of me, were really “into” the music. I greeted them during the “Pass the peace” and then when it was time to leave they said that it had been a very nice service – they would visit again. This is what I had hoped for ever since we went back to the one service. It seems to be a lovely blend of both “approaches” and what could Ignite one any more than that!
Bill and I are glad that the session has realized the need to try to pay off our loan and to set up a program to do this. Sue
I’m excited that we are moving forward in so many ways, after so long spent “spinning our wheels.”
I love the varied music that we get to be exposed to on Sunday a.m. :0)
A combination of hymns, praise, and those with a beat and message are great to uplift my spirit.
Hearing testimonies from members is also a wonderful way to share what God is doing in the lives of people in our church!!! Carry On!!! :0)
I am hopeful that our entire church family feels the renewed energy being focused on moving this congregation into the future. Our Lord is calling us, and richly blessing us, with a renewed sense of purpose in this place. It takes a village……please do your part.
WOW, What a team we having setting us all on fire to realize this is so necessary. OPC is our HOME and we want to keep it that way. I am excited about what is happening and look forward to a very successful campaign thanks to the committee in charge. WAY TO GO AND GOD BLESS.
